Inside the Experience
If you're a fan of Japanese cuisine and find yourself in Bangkok, Gyukatsu Kyoto Katsugyu - Siam Center is a culinary gem that you simply cannot miss. Situated on the 2nd floor of the bustling Siam Center, this restaurant brings the authentic flavors of Tokyo's renowned gyukatsu to Thailand. With its prime location at 979 Rama I Rd, Pathum Wan, it’s the perfect spot to indulge in a delightful meal after shopping or exploring the local sights.
What sets Gyukatsu Kyoto Katsugyu apart is its commitment to quality. Guests rave about the flavorful fatty beef, which is freshly breaded and fried to crispy perfection, while maintaining a juicy pink center. As echoed in Tao Tao's review, the taste is reminiscent of the best gyukatsu experiences in Tokyo. Here, you can enjoy unlimited rice and shredded cabbage—refreshing accompaniments that enhance the richness of the beef.
The menu offers a range of options, including both sirloin and wagyu choices, the latter of which has been highly recommended by discerning diners like TM LEK. They delighted in the authentic flavor of the wagyu, highlighting that it is truly worth the splurge for those eager to indulge. The ability to customize your meal further with options like a hot grill allows guests to sear their meat to perfection, an interactive experience that reflects Japanese culinary cultural elegance.
In addition to the gyukatsu, the restaurant serves up delightful sides like miso soup and curry sauce, which add layers of flavor to the meal. Chris Low noted the satisfying set meals that include a soft-boiled egg and a variety of dipping options, making every bite a new adventure. And don’t forget to try the iced tea, which is complimentary and pairs wonderfully with the meal.
The ambiance is comfortable, vibrant yet relaxed, making it a perfect dining destination whether you're out with friends or on a casual solo lunch. Despite the quality of the food, it’s worth noting that you may find fewer crowds during lunch hours, as mentioned by some diners, which can provide a more intimate experience.
Overall, Gyukatsu Kyoto Katsugyu - Siam Center delivers a remarkable dining experience that captures the essence of Japanese comfort food. With superb service and generous portion sizes, it offers both value and flavor. I left feeling satisfied and eager for my next visit, already dreaming of their juicy gyukatsu and those lovely free refills!
“ Absolutely delicious. Last time I had gyukatsu was nearly 3 years ago in Tokyo. Flavorwise it's almost the same, with flavourful fatty beef and free refills for both the shredded cabbage and rice. Came here at around 11:30am on a weekday and the place was almost deserted, probably because it's extremely expensive compared to the other foods you can get in Bangkok. Please do note that there is a 10% service/tax charge that isn't listed on the menu. ”
“ For those looking for Japanese fried beef with authentic sauce . This is the place. Rice is hot and taste good with just soya sauce. Next the sirloin is good choice . If your budget allows I highly recommend the wagyu which you will never regret . Wasabi taste authentic. Price is reasonable for normal beef and portion is good enough . Free rice and salad refills . Free tea too . The double choice plate set is thb 535 and single choice meat is 490 for regular size . Deco wise Japanese modern style , comfortable. Staff service is good . But might need to wait a bit if the shop is full . ”
“ A tonkatsu spot from Tokyo just opened a branch at Siam Center. I ordered the wagyu katsu with hot steamed rice (which you can get unlimited refills). They also give you a small grill so you can sear each piece of meat yourself. The pork loin with some fat was really good too, and I added the breaded salmon to try. totally worth it. Overall, everything was super tasty. ”
“ I heard that this is a famous gyukatsu from Japan and wanted so much to try it. Finally got a chance to try this restaurant. Came over to this restaurant for a Friday lunch. I was quite surprised that there are not many customers during this time. Anyway sat down and ordered sirloin and chuck tail. The set meal contains rice, miso soup, curry sauce, soft boiled egg. They provide several dipping sauce such as wasabi, pepper, shoyu and gyukatsu sauce. The breaded beef cutlets were quite raw but they also provided a small stove for you to cook to your liking. The breaded beefs were fried perfectly and it was very juicy and tender on the inside. Pair it with curry, soft boiled eggs or gyukatsu sauce and I feel like Im in heaven. So delicious, so tasty so good. They do served ice tea for free as well. They do provide vegetables but I don't eat cabbage so i refused it. Im not disappointed at the food at all. But I do feel its a little bit pricey especially for the portions. But I do love it and will be coming back for more. Im not sure how the quality compares to those in Japan and but I do feel this restaurant already satisfy me. The staffs were very pleasant and friendly and attentive. I just feel that this restaurant don't receive enough love but for me, I really love the food. And I will definitely be back for more! ”
“ This restaurant serves superb Japanese deep fried beef!! The crust is crispy and the beef is still pretty nice and pink! Not to mention the meat is really juicy and fresh. They lock the flavour of the meat nicely. Thumbs up for that. If you like a more well-done beef texture, they even provide a small "stove" for you on your to further grill your meat to your preference! Which we do, and by grilling it a bit more, it add in to the flavour. Taste awesome! The set meal also comes with 4 different type of sauces. Personally, I'm in love with their curry sauce. Goes super well with the beef and the rice. The staff is really attentive, and will come to refill our cabbage since it's free flow. Same goes to the miso soup, you may request for a refill too! They do have other side dishes like deep fried salmon fillet too. You will like that. Strongly recommend this restaurant if you are a beef lover! ”
